John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs he composed, the majority of which were set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell New Mexico. He fell in love Colorado. He eventually made his way to Aspen. Denver's state anthems have inspired numerous people to go to Colorado. I can't think of another performer that embodies Colorado like John Denver said G. Brown curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its initial member in the year 2011. He has become the personification of Colorado for everyone around the world. Certainly in my travels you meet someone from the other end of the planet, someone from New Zealand and you say "I'm originally from Colorado and the first thing that comes out of their mouths is Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief career as a folk musician which was Denver's first Top 10 solo hit. Danoff wrote the song along with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver was introduced to an earlier version it was clear that the song could be the next hit single. A few days after the performance to a throng of fans in Washington D.C., the artist recorded the song.
